There are various reasons that your overlays could not be working. If your overlays aren't working, you can try refreshing them in your streaming software. This may resolve various issues

1. Select your overlay in Sources
2.Click Refresh button
XSplit
1. Select your overlay in sources
2. Click Settings
3. Click Refresh button
Streamlabs OBS
1. Select your overlay in Sources
2. Click the properties icon
3. Click Refresh cache of current page button
