How to set up Wheel of Misfortune

Hey Stickybombers!

Today we’re going to introduce you to the Wheel of Misfortune feature on Stickybomb.

I’m sure some of you have seen spin wheels like this before, being used to get viewers excited for giveaways and other contests by randomizing selection.

However, the Wheel of Misfortune is unique, because it has the option to allow viewers to directly impact the probability of a category, or add their own category to the wheel through donations.
This results in hilariously unexpected results and interactions, while also helping streamers monetize the wheel during their streams.

Now, let’s take a closer look at how it all works.

Connecting the overlay & turning on the wheel

There are 2 ways to bring the wheel onto your screen.

Dashboard

In the dashboard, locate streaming tools, and then go to overlays. From there, select the wheel under ‘Mini games’ and turn on the ‘show on screen’ option.

Control Center

You can also access the wheel through the control center. Click on your profile and located control center.

Under ‘Mini games’ turn on the ‘show on screen’ option. Please keep in mind, the ‘show on screen’ option must always be on if you want Stickybomb’s mini games to appear on your overlay.

This is how the wheel looks initially.

But we need to add categories to the wheel before we spin it. We’ll show you how to add them.

Real-time control, title change, add/remove categories

You’ll be able to control the wheel in real-time by going into the control center, under mini games. Here, you can change the titles of the different categories, add/remove them and also spin the wheel from here.

Now, let’s create a wheel and add new categories to it. Let’s say you asked chat “What should I eat for lunch?” After selecting the title, let’s add some categories. Now, to allow viewers to start participating through their donations, the “show on screen” option must be turned ON. Note that this option has to be turned on if you want to start accept donations.

Adding categories through donations

Now let’s see what happens on the viewer’s side.

Once the wheel appears on screen, the tipping page menu will change to allow viewers to vote on existing categories or add new ones to the wheel. As a viewer, let’s say I added Water’ or ‘Air’ to the wheel. As you can see, my categories get added to the list along with my donations.

Look at that! A viewer added Snot jelly to the wheel. That’s unfortunate. Do they even sell those? This is precisely what makes Stickybomb’s Wheel of Misfortune unique!

Finally! The wheel is complete. Let’s see how this looks in our preview.
Time to spin the wheel. You can spin the wheel by accessing the control center. Shall we give it a spin? Water was selected! Bon apatite!… I guess.04-12+04-15_1.gif

Resetting & turning off the wheel

You can reset the wheel by pressing 'reset' on the Control Center. All categories will be removed to let you start over.

To turn off the wheel, you just need to change the ‘show on screen’ option to OFF. And no worries, just because you turned off the wheel, it doesn’t mean categories you created disappear. It just disappears from the screen.

Well, that’s all for this tutorial. Now it’s time to see what creative and ridiculous results you get from spinning the Wheel of Misfortune. Good luck and most importantly, have fun!
